Media coupler

The media coupler is used to connect the SKS IP network to SKS BUS systems

The media coupler is used to connect the SKS IP network to SKS BUS systems. Thus it is possible to join various BUS segments into one complete system or to connect SKS IP systems to 6-wire indoor stations. The digital video input signals are made available to all SKS 6-wire users, sound and control signals are converted bi-directionally. Hence it is possible to realize extensive systems with respect to user numbers and wire lengths.

  • Controlling of up to 96 BUS addresses within the 6-wire BUS
  • Providing a central image memory (requires compatible video indoor stations or app)

Note:
Per 6-wire segment a media coupler is needed as well as, depending on the respective number of indoor stations, a Solo compact power supply 300119 (for smaller BUS segments) or a Basic compact power supply 300089 in combination with a Video compact power supply 300090 (for up to 96 indoor stations).

Distribution Variants

An example of an apartment house, student residence or functional buildings with the advantage, that all data is stored centralised on the main media coupler and that extensive systems can be realized with regards to user numbers and wire lingths.

Distribution option 4 (Attic)

To be able to extend an SKS IP system by an SKS BUS segment, there must be at least one media coupler and one power supply in the distribution. Connecting the media coupler, Basic compact power supply and video compact power supply a 6-wire BUS segment with up to 96 indoor stations in 4 risers may be operated.

Distribution option 3 (2nd floor)

To be able to extend an SKS IP system by an SKS BUS segment, there must be at least one media coupler and one power supply in the distribution. Connecting media coupler and Solo compact power supply smaller SKS BUS segments in 2 risers can be operated.

Distribution option 2 (1st floor)

To be able to extend an SKS IP system by an SKS BUS segment, there must be at least one media coupler and one power supply in the distribution. Connecting the media coupler and a Solo compact power supply smaller SKS BUS segments in up to 2 risers can be operated. Using the additional switch further distributions can be connected so that extensive systems with respect to wire length and user number can be realized.

Distribution option 1 (Ground floor)

Typical distribution in a system in which media couplers are operated, consisting of at least one IP switch 10-port PoE 300114 and an IP power supply PoE 300115, that are necessary to power COMFORT door stations. Optionally an  IP switching actuator 8-fold 300116, which is equipped with 16 digital and 2 A/D inputs may be built in, which makes it possible to both control switching states and monitor various measured values (such as door and window contacts, room temperature).
